CDE
The CDE – Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology – was founded in 1994 by Professor Larry Distiller who had a vision to create the ultimate comprehensive diabetes management programme. Many medical aids have opted to participate in the CDE programme and thus, provide their members with diabetes care from a multi-disciplinary team. There is now a network of CDE centres country wide and Sunward Park Medical Centre is a proud branch. This is led by Dr Angela Murphy and Sr Christine Manga with accredited dietician, Sunette Swart.

CDE now stands for CARDIOVASCULAR, DIABETES, EDUCATION. The CDE aims to spread its programme to improve the care and support for patients with diabetes. Education is key in this so that patients have the correct information and tools to improve diabetes control, as well as other risk factors such as hypertension and high cholesterol. This will translate to a reduction in complications, especially cardiovascular.
