A dietician is expert in the field of dietetics, that is, human nutrition and regulation of diet. Dietary advice is given based on a person’s medical conditions and individual needs. Dieticians are regulated healthcare professionals licensed to assess, diagnose, and treat nutritional problems.
Mrs Sunette Swart is experienced in all fields of dietetics, with a particular passion for treating patients with overweight and obesity.
Sunette has accreditation with the CDE and sees patients living with diabetes to improve their food choices and so optimize their glucose control. She also sees patients from Dr Angela Murphy’s practice who are on the Discovery Diabetes Care Program.
Many patients will consult Sunette for weight loss and she has significant experience with weight loss medications as well as bariatric surgery. She is especially qualified to prepare patients for bariatric surgery and monitor their diet in the post-surgery period. This should be life-long to get the best outcome from the surgical intervention.
